Gluten Free Back to School
Don’t let your gluten free college student go hungry! Now would be a great time to send a gluten free care package to your student at college. go to our website at www.gfhouston.com and order online. It just takes a minute, and is something that will be so thrilling for your student. If they don’t have a lot of refrigerator space in the dorm, they can ask the dining room to store it in the freezer for them!

Gluten Free Herb Cheese Casserole
Herbed Cheese Bread Recipe!
Every other Saturday is Herbed Cheese Bread Day at Gluten Free Houston. The bakery is permeated with smells of garlic, butter and baked cheese. We thought there was nothing better than eating the cheese bread right out of the oven until one of our customers shared the following recipe with us. It was so delicious that we had to share it:
Herbed Cheese Bread Bake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Ingredients
1 loaf herbed cheese bread cubed, from Gluten Free Houston
8 ex large or 10 medium eggs
Salt, pepper and dry mustard to taste
Real bacon bits (from the package)—make sure they are gluten free!
!Shredded cheese
Directions
Beat eggs with salt, pepper and dry mustard. Blend eggs with cubed cheese bread and place in a 9 x 13 inch greased baking dish. Sprinkle bacon bits and shredded cheese over the top of the casserole. Bake for 30 minutes or until top of casserole is bubbling and golden brown. Let it cool and cut into squares.
It is that easy! She has served this delicious casserole for breakfast, brunch and ladies luncheons. The best part is that she didn’t tell anyone it was gluten free and nobody knew!
This Saturday, July 23rd is Herbed Cheese Bread Day at Gluten Free Houston. Please pre-order your breads Friday by 5pm so we make enough to go around. You can eat a loaf on the way home and have an extra loaf for Sunday Brunch!

The Joys of the Sampling Table on Saturdays at GFH
The joy of the Sampling Table on Saturday’s at Gluten Free Houston’s bakery………………………….
Ok, so you or a family member is newly diagnosed with Celiac or some form of gluten intolerance. Off you go to the grocery store in search of any and all gluten free products you can get your hands on. That feeling of desperation that you will never taste another piece of bread or a cookie, or cake, or pasta, or pizza, or donut….. need I go on? You stand in your local grocery store and do not know where to begin. How does this stuff taste you ask yourself? Since all the gluten free products available are packaged and or frozen, tasting what you are buying is not an option. So you fill your basket with everything gluten free that is available at your grocery store (without tasting it) and head home. Now it is tasting time. Your husband asks for a glass of water, your child spits it out and you are at a loss. Not only are you wondering how you are going to get your family to eat gluten free but how will you be able to afford eating gluten free if you have to throw away much of what you have purchased. Gluten Free Houston has the answer! Every Saturday from 8am to 2pm we have a table of samples of most of our products available for tasting. There is nothing better than to watch someone walk up to the sample table and taste whatever they want. They can spend their hard earned money knowing that they are purchasing something they will eat and enjoy. Eating gluten free in not inexpensive so come and try our delicious fresh baked products before you buy them. We’ll hold a place for you at the sample table Saturday!

Going gluten free at Camp!
We wanted to share a couple of stories about being gluten free at camp. We are not really sure which is worse, being the worrying mom or being the hungry camper. We have seen quite a few moms in the store lately stocking up on gluten free breads, cookies, cereals etc. to take to camp. Today Nick and Megan (a gf brother and sister duo) came in to load up on gluten free goodies for their trip up to Camp Ozark in Arkansas. Their mom shared with us that the camp doctor is a pediatrician here in Houston and her family is gluten free. We are happy to report that Camp Ozark really works with all the kids at camp who have dietary restrictions. Nick and Megan can go to camp not having to worry about what they can eat at camp and mom doesn’t have to worry either. We would like to give shout out to Camp Champions in Marble Falls, TX. This is the first year that Camp Champions has proactively ordered gluten free products through their food service provider. It turns out that Camp Champions has over 60 gluten free kids this summer. The best news of all is that the food service provider called us at Gluten Free Houston to help them supply Camp Champions with all their gluten free needs. On top of that we have received orders from camps all over the United States requesting gluten free items for their gf campers. It is great to see that more and more camps are becoming aware of the needs of our gluten free kids!Have a happy and healthy gluten free summer everyone!GFH

One great thing
I am really glad that Gluten Free Houston is turning into such a great resource for the gluten free community. It really takes one to know one, and I think my own personal experience (as well as the personal GF experience of several of our staff members) really makes a difference. You just can't get the guidance and information in a regular retail grocery-type store. I like to think that we are experts in living gluten free. We are also adding a lot more gluten free/dairy free items--there is such a big demand for that!
